Why did Fairpicture adapt their prices?

Fairpicture adjusted their prices in 2023 due to the rising cost of living and to reflect the varying levels of complexity involved in different types of photography and video production. This includes higher rates for extensive video production that involves more equipment, as well as a slight adjustment for photography rates.

Why do you charge the same daily rates for all visual creators?

Fairpicture believes in fairness and equality, which is why we charge rates based on the type of work, rather than the person doing the work. This approach ensures that all photographers and videographers are compensated fairly for their time and expertise.

Furthermore, Fairpicture works with global rates because it makes our pricing more transparent and negotiations between clients and creators much simpler. This leads to faster negotiation cycles that save time and money for everyone involved and increases the probability of getting a contract. We've also made the experience that most creators live in cities with a similar standard of living and similar equipment cost.

Why do you have the same daily rate for most working days?

Fairpicture works with one rate for photography production days, postproduction days and travel days, and a higher rate for advanced video production days. This means that you get paid for your working days, not negotiated days.

Many times, freelancers work more days than negotiated. We want to change that by negotiating the number of working days instead of the total assignment sum or negotiating the daily rate. Talking about working days helps clients to understand the amount of work that is necessary to fulfill a brief. Working with moderate daily rates for all working days makes it easier to have this discussion than having high daily rates where everything is packed in.

What rates do you charge for multimedia productions?

For multimedia productions with photography and advanced video, we work with both rates (e.g. 2 photo production days, 2 video production days).

Simple social media snippets that can be created with standard photography equipment are compensated with the photo production daily rate.

What is considered an “advanced” video production?

Advanced video production refers to more elaborate video productions that require specialized equipment and expertise, and involve more effort and time to create. Simple video production, on the other hand, refers to creating videos with basic equipment. These types of videos are typically shorter, quicker videos created for social media or promotional purposes. Simple video productions can be created quickly and easily, without the need for extensive planning or technical skills
